Adulting is hard, especially during the summer. Growing up and having three months off for summer every year really doesn't do a good job of preparing you for the real world. That big gap of time to have fun and go on trips is sorely missed now and I don't think I realized when I was younger how different it would be. Luckily a couple of months ago I decided to take some time off to take a trip to Denver, Colorado for the weekend with my family. My brother was already going to be there with the band he was traveling with so the rest of us decided to meet him there for the weekend; my sister and I flew in from Nashville and our parents flew in from Baltimore. We spent the weekend enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather and seeing as much of the spectacular Denver scenery as possible. We had all been to Colorado Springs 10+ years earlier for our cousin's wedding so we decided to visit a couple of places we had been before like the Garden of the Gods. Then the next day we met up with my brother at Red Rocks and got to attend the Tour de Compadres concert. I seriously don't know how some of my friends show so much self restraint living so close to Red Rocks because I would spend all of my paycheck on attending concerts there, it is just so amazing! While I did not get a ton of sleep during this short adventure with the family, it was totally worth the late nights and early morning flights.
