I haven't written or posted anything for at least a month and I had hoped to be posting at least some of my favorite quotes each weeks so I will try to get back on top of that kind of stuff. Below is a little bit of my ramblings, enjoy.
My family loves NEEDTOBREATHE and right now it is in the cd player in the family car during spring break. It's one I haven't listened to in a while (probably since they came to campus in the fall) but as I was listening to it on one of my many drives to and from Annapolis this week I rediscovered their song, "Keep Your Eyes Open". If you haven't heard it before I have the song embeded below and you should listen before you continue to read. While I've definitely listened to this song before, it always amazes me how I don't really "hear" a song sometimes until it is extremely applicable to the time in my life. The chorus of the song states, "Cause if you never leave home, never let go/You'll never make it to the great unknown/Open your eyes/Keep your eyes open/So tell me you're strong, tell me you see/I need to hear it, can you promise me to/Keep your eyes, open my love/So show me your fire, show me your heart/You know I'll never let you fall apart if you/Keep your eyes open, my love" and those words were exactly what I needed to hear. As a senior in college with just eight weeks left before I am unleashed into the world with a bachelors degree and the fate of moving back in with my parents, I'm starting to freak out a bit. But as I was freaking out about it all again today I started talking to a friend on facebook. I found out that he is really going through a rough time, stuff that is a lot heavier than my graduating senior woes. While his struggles don't negate my issues, it did put one thing into perspective - no matter what God is in control. I wanted to share this song with him but not everyone gets as moved by lyrics and songs like I do so instead I am going to say it here to not only remind myself but to remind whoever reads this.
Be CONFIDENT; God is with you always and forever. He will not let you fall apart! He is asking you to keep your eyes open, open to the great unknown, the great unknown that He has in store for you. Be excited and eager for that unknown - do not fear it but EMBRACE it. Embrace that through all of it God is GOOD; always is and always will be! Show Him your fire and show Him your heart and He alone will truly see it! And most importantly; LEAN on Him for He is always with you.
